Virtual "la Virée" festival to begin Friday

Carleton's la Virée Trad festival, which was to take place October 8-11, had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That doesn't  mean that the 20th edition of the event won't go ahead however. Undaunted, organizers decided to go virtual, and the 2.0 version of la Virée Trad will get underway this Friday.

Programming will include six shows, three workshops and two conferences. Online admission is free and the festival can be seen on the event's Facebook page.

Unfortunately, the festival's popular public market will not take place this year.

The la Virée Trad Festival is a living heritage event which takes place annually in October. It features around 30 activities and shows for all audiences: Traditional music and dance, story telling and the largest public market on the Gaspé peninisula as well as workshops, exhibits and conferences. Family oriented, the festival includes contributions from the French, English and Mi'kmaq communities.
