New Richmond to allow a gradual return for activities

Municipal sports and leisure infrastructure, which had been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be reopened gradually in New Richmond.

The Jean Marie Jobin Sports Complex will open it's doors on Monday November 2. Initially, the arena will be open for youth and school programs only. Adult and open activities such as hockey will remain suspended for now.

Activities organized by the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets which also take place at the arena will also be allowed.

The Adrien Gauvreau Community Centre will also reopen for youth and school activities.

The Bruce Ritchie Swimming Pool will remain closed until the entire Bay of Chaleur area is classified as an orange zone. Initially, the pool will also reopen to it's youth clientele only, including the Saumoneaux swim club as well as courses for youth and children.

Approximately 40 per cent of the swimming pool's clientele is made up of residents of Maria, Carleton and Nouvelle which are still considered a red zone, which explains why the opening has been delayed.
