Return to the ice for Hockey Gaspésie-les-Îles

Hockey Gaspésie-les-Îles has released it's plan for a return of activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020-21 season will see all divisions (novice to midget) play in the A ("single letter") category. Usually the region also includes the BB ("double-letter") level.

Travel will be restricted within three distinct territories within the region: the Bay of Chaleur, Rocher/Forillon and the Magdelen Islands. This will allow play to continue in the other territories even if one has to be closed in the case of an increase in COVID cases or if an area is classified as a red zone.

"Recently the Bay of Chaleurs area has been more affected than elsewhere. There is nothing to say that in the next few weeks or months it won't be the other regions. This format allows us to really divide (the region) so as not to penalize the areas or sectors that are doing well" according to Hockey Gaspésie-les-Îles director Gabriel Vallée.

Hockey Quebec has reduced the number of players allowed on a team to ten players and one goaltender for the upcoming season.

Some areas will return to the ice this weekend while others will wait until next weekend.
